Christmas Food Dinners

Traditionally a dinner is served as part of the Christmas ritual of celebration of birth of baby Jesus. Both western and eastern cultures which celebrate rituals of Christianity, such as Christmas, serve dinner at the night before Christmas, on the 24th of December, more precisely at midnight. However, in some cultures, this ritual may differ, but for the sake of better understanding and to simplify this article, let’s concentrate on the American Culture and some variations.

The actual dinner is cautiously prepared and some items and ingredients can’t be left out. As a Christmas tradition, these are a few dinner courses that cannot be forgotten at the table during Christmas dinner:

·         Apple cider, Champagne, or sparkling apple cider

·         Fruitcake

·         Christmas cake

·         Christmas Pudding

·         Candy canes

·         Christmas cookies

·         Cranberry sauce

·         Eggnog

·         Fruitcake

·         Gingerbread, often in the form of a Gingerbread house or Gingerbread man

·         Ham (Smithfield ham, often served on a biscuit or a roll)

·         Biscuits and crackers

·         Bread rolls

·         Stuffing also known as Dressing in the Southern United States

·         Hot chocolate

·         Marzipan

·         Mince Pie

·         Apple pie

·         Pecan pie

·         Pumpkin pie

·         Roast turkey, less often roast duck or roast goose
